Career Trajectories

"Every player who ever stepped in the box. Plotted."

Reference Toolv.1 · MLB 1985–2025 · Full CohortIncludes Flameouts

Every career, plotted at once. Including the ones that ended.

Every line is one player. Every dot is one season. Pick a stat, a position, a debut tier — the cohort changes underneath. The bold curve is the cohort median. The shaded band is the middle half (25th to 75th percentile). Click a name to highlight one player's whole trajectory.

What this view shows that tables cannot

Pick "Cup of coffee" from the Debut tier filter. Watch most lines fall off a cliff after year 1. That's the population the prior table-based explorer hid from you — the flameouts. Now pick "Qualifier" and the cliffs disappear: those careers run flat into year 10 and beyond. The whole prior aging-curve literature is a chart of the lucky quarter of the rookie class.
