Is It Commercial? A Quiz You Can’t Fail (But Can Definitely Get Wrong)
You’d like to use something from The Sports Page. Wonderful. First, the only question that matters: is your use commercial? Nine scenarios. Pick an answer, learn the rule, keep your conscience clean.
Every scenario has one of three honest answers, straight out of the License:
FREE TO GO — read, share, quote, with credit. No need to ask.
KNOCK FIRST — allowed, but it’s an adaptation: ask, then give it back better.
HARD NO — that’s commercial gain. Not without a separate conversation.

The honest summary, in one line: money anywhere → hard no. Changing the work → knock first. Just reading, sharing, or quoting with credit → free to go. The whole point of the license is that “borrow it” is generous and “give it back better” is the rent.
